Developing a men’s ministry in the church is about the most challenging missions, but perhaps we start to use a better vision.
Every ministry within the church needs a tough vision, and men’s ministry is not a different. But do we understand the most beneficial version and expression of this? In this Resolute Podcast, Vince Miller is joined from the pastor and author Roger Thompson from Man Within the Mirror Ministries. Well I think I would start first by defining cures mean by discipleship. And enjoy by that is simply somebody who’s following Jesus right into ever-growing stations of faith. And what I believe we tend to think – as soon as you pose the question, “Why should discipleship be the midst of men’s ministry? ” I believe the default – in all of the men’s minds is, “How does an individual get men into a systematic Bible study? ” And again, nothing wrong bring back.

Yeah, say more about that. ‘Cause I love the manner in which that you say which. Because sometimes guys can come to you, and they have a concept of what they see men’s ministry as. And it’s an opportunity, it’s a system, it’s an operation. But then they miss one other side of it. That's how do we definitely mobilize men? How do we get them to embrace the lifestyle which Jesus lived, that is organized in God’s word, and not see it as exclusively sometimes a system or a system. Or on the many other end, only as a Bible study, right?

But I also wish to say that discipleship is simply not up to the men’s ministry to undertake. There – it happens in a great many, many other places. So this means that – let me say it with this. The healthier the rec center, the less footprint the men’s ministry will have – or require.

Yeah so, what I hear anyone saying is that excellent artwork i just have a larger view of what men’s ministry may be. Or a larger eyesight – not be so exclusive or myopic approximately saying, “It’s only a Bible study. And if numbers arrive at my Bible study, subsequently I’m successful. ” Or – if we have 100 men that arrive at a men’s retreat, subsequently we’re successful. It’s more precisely how are we mobilizing men throughout the church? We’re giving them opportunities to grow in their faith, through the use of their gifts and visiting service and projects and engagement while using whole church – not just with us. That is a real healthier view, it sounds like?
Absolutely. Yes. We possess a man in our rec center named John, who introduced – I don’t find out? 15 years ago with teaching. Very vigorous guy. And his ministry was to our church camp. Where you can find hundreds and hundreds associated with first-time decisions for Christ constructed every summer. And tens of thousands of re-dedication. And John started choosing trips to Trout Lake to undertake building up there. And he’s probably got 30 men within our church who go using him. It’s very silent, it’s under the radar. They go up there, and they will do tremendous work. They’ve given literally millions of dollars of free labor. Skilled labor to the present camp. Where children come and are saved and discipled. Air cleaner will add – yeah, he’s a Bible student, but they will don’t go and investigation the Bible.
