Developing a men’s ministry in the church is one of the most challenging missions, but perhaps we'd like a better vision.
Every ministry in the church needs a strong vision, and men’s ministry 's no different. But do we understand the top version and expression of that? In this Resolute Podcast, Vince Miller is joined through the pastor and author Roger Thompson from Man With the Mirror Ministries. And what I do believe we tend to think – at the time you pose the question, “Why should discipleship be the biggest market of men’s ministry? ” I do believe the default – in all of the men’s minds is, “How can i get men into a systematic Bible study? ” And again, nothing wrong with this.

Yeah, say more about this. ‘Cause I love the manner that you say which. Because sometimes guys will happen to you, and they've already a concept of what they look into men’s ministry as. And it’s a program, it’s a system, it’s an activity. But then they miss the other side of it. That is definitely how do we really mobilize men? How do we encourage them to embrace the lifestyle which Jesus lived, that is laid out in God’s word, though not see it as exclusively the system or a process. Or on the some other end, only as a Bible study, right?

But I also wish to say that discipleship isn't up to the men’s ministry to undertake. There – it happens in lots of, many other places. So this means that – let me say it in such a manner. The healthier the church, the less footprint the men’s ministry are going to have – or need to have.

Yeah so, what I hear you saying is that excellent artwork i just have a larger view of what men’s ministry is usually. Or a larger idea – not be which means exclusive or myopic concerning saying, “It’s only a Bible study. And if numbers come to my Bible study, in that case I’m successful. ” Or – if you'll find 100 men that come to a men’s retreat, in that case we’re successful. It’s more about how precisely exactly are we mobilizing men throughout the church? We’re giving them opportunities to nurture in their faith, by employing their gifts and studying service and projects and engagement with the whole church – not just for with us. That is actually a healthier view, it appears like?
Absolutely. Yes. We have a man in our church named John, who retired – I don’t fully understand? 15 years ago from teaching. Very vigorous person. And his ministry was to church camp. Where there is hundreds and hundreds with first-time decisions for Christ created every summer. And tens of thousands of re-dedication. And John started using trips to Trout Lake to undertake building up there. And he’s probably got 30 men inside our church who go by means of him. It’s very quiet, it’s under the radar. They go up there, and these people do tremendous work. They’ve given literally huge amounts of money of free labor. Skilled labor to the present camp. Where children come as they are saved and discipled. I am talking about – yeah, he’s a Bible student, but these people don’t go and investigation the Bible.
