Developing a men’s ministry in the church is one of the most challenging missions, but perhaps we require a better vision.
Every ministry in the church needs a strong vision, and men’s ministry is not any different. But do we understand the most effective version and expression from this? In this Resolute Podcast, Vince Miller is joined with the pastor and author Roger Thompson from Man Inside Mirror Ministries. Well I think I should start first by defining what we mean by discipleship. And what i mean by that is just somebody who’s following Jesus towards ever-growing stations of faith. And what I believe we tend to think – as soon as you pose the question, “Why should discipleship be the middle of men’s ministry? ” I believe the default – in most men’s minds is, “How do i get men into some systematic Bible study? ” Together with again, nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, say more about that. ‘Cause I love the best way that you say that will. Because sometimes guys occurs to you, and they also have a concept of what they bring to mind men’s ministry as. And it’s a program, it’s a system, it’s a procedure. But then they miss one other side of it. That's how do we extremely mobilize men? How do we cause them to embrace the lifestyle that will Jesus lived, that is arranged in God’s word, and not see it as exclusively whether system or a system. Or on the additional end, only as some Bible study, right?

But I also want to say that discipleship is not really up to the men’s ministry to do. There – it happens in a great many, many other places. So this means that – let me say it like this. The healthier the religious, the less footprint the men’s ministry should have – or prefer.

Yeah so, what I hear people saying is that excellent artwork i just have a larger viewpoint of what men’s ministry may be. Or a larger eyesight – not be so exclusive or myopic concerning saying, “It’s only some Bible study. And if numbers get to my Bible study, after that I’m successful. ” Or – if there is 100 men that get to a men’s retreat, after that we’re successful. It’s more about how precisely exactly are we mobilizing men in the church? We’re giving them opportunities to cultivate in their faith, by using their gifts and studying service and projects and engagement along with the whole church – not only with us. That is actually a healthier view, it will sound like?
Absolutely. Yes. We have a man in our religious named John, who outdated – I don’t find out? 15 years ago out of teaching. Very vigorous person. And his ministry was to the church camp. Where there is hundreds and hundreds associated with first-time decisions for Christ constructed every summer. And countless re-dedication. And John started getting trips to Trout Lake to do building up there. And he’s probably got 30 men inside our church who go using him. It’s very hushed, it’s under the radar. Each goes up there, and they will do tremendous work. They’ve given literally quantities of free labor. Skilled labor to the present camp. Where children come and tend to be saved and discipled. I am talking about – yeah, he’s some Bible student, but they will don’t go and analyze the Bible.
