Having a men’s ministry in the church is about the most challenging missions, but perhaps we require a better vision.
Every ministry within the church needs a tough vision, and men’s ministry isn't an different. But do we understand the very best version and expression from this? In this Resolute Podcast, Vince Miller is joined from the pastor and author Roger Thompson from Man In the Mirror Ministries. Well I think I will start first by defining what we mean by discipleship. And why by that is merely somebody who’s following Jesus towards ever-growing stations of faith. And what I believe we tend to think – at the time you pose the question, “Why should discipleship be the center of men’s ministry? ” I believe the default – in most men’s minds is, “How must get men into some sort of systematic Bible study? ” Together with again, nothing wrong to be able.

Yeah, say more about that. ‘Cause I love the best way that you say that will. Because sometimes guys can come to you, and they also have a concept of what they look into men’s ministry as. And it’s a program, it’s a system, it’s a procedure. But then they miss the other side of it. Which happens to be how do we certainly mobilize men? How do we encourage them to embrace the lifestyle that will Jesus lived, that is outlined in God’s word, but not see it as exclusively either a system or a system. Or on the many other end, only as some sort of Bible study, right?

But I also want to say that discipleship is simply not up to the men’s ministry to undertake. There – it happens in lots of, many other places. So this means that – let me say it with this. The healthier the rec center, the less footprint the men’s ministry are going to have – or need to have.

Yeah so, what I hear most people saying is that found . have a larger perspective of what men’s ministry may be. Or a larger vision – not be consequently exclusive or myopic around saying, “It’s only some sort of Bible study. And if numbers found yourself in my Bible study, in that case I’m successful. ” Or – if you'll find 100 men that found yourself in a men’s retreat, in that case we’re successful. It’s more about precisely how are we mobilizing men over the church? We’re giving them opportunities growing in their faith, by employing their gifts and looking at service and projects and engagement while using the whole church – not just for with us. That is a real healthier view, it appears like?
Absolutely. Yes. We contain a man in our rec center named John, who retired – I don’t realize? 15 years ago because of teaching. Very vigorous person. And his ministry was to your church camp. Where there are actually hundreds and hundreds with first-time decisions for Christ built every summer. And 1000s of re-dedication. And John started taking trips to Trout Lake to undertake building up there. And he’s probably got 30 men in this particular church who go using him. It’s very silent, it’s under the radar. They go up there, and people do tremendous work. They’ve given literally quantities of free labor. Skilled labor to this fact camp. Where children come and they are saved and discipled. Air cleaner will add – yeah, he’s some sort of Bible student, but people don’t go and analyze the Bible.

According to research, those that engage in Bible reading four or higher times per week encounter life much differently than those that don’t!
